Meet Dr. Morgan
Dr. Morgan is a board certified orthopedic surgeon, subspecialty trained and certified in Sports Medicine. He has a particular interest in shoulder, elbow and knee problems.
Dr. Morgan was raised in Spartanburg South Carolina and received his undergraduate degree from Wofford College, where he was a member of the football team. He went on to complete medical school at The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
Dr. Morgan then completed his internship and orthopedic surgery residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. During his residency, he was twice awarded the resident research award and was also selected as a chief resident in Orthopedic surgery. He also presented at many local and national meetings and published research related to Sports Medicine.
After residency, Dr. Morgan pursued a sports medicine fellowship at OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, North Carolina. Through this, he has developed a clinical interest in care of shoulder, elbow and knee problems in athletes of all ages, including throwing athletes, professional and college athletes as well as adult and pediatric patients.
With this extensive training, Dr. Morgan has developed broad clinical interest including shoulder and elbow arthroscopic surgery and replacement, along with knee arthroscopic Sports Medicine conditions. He also treats fractures of the shoulder, elbow and knee.
Dr. Morgan also has extensive experience as a team physician. During his training he assisted with professional team coverage including the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte Knights. He also assisted in team medical coverage for college division 1 programs, Davidson College and University of North Carolina – Charlotte (UNCC), while also serving as team physician for several local high schools. Currently, Dr. Morgan is team physician for Concord High School and also serves as the orthopedist for the Shrine Bowl High School All Star game.
Dr. Morgan’s approach to patient care focuses on educating the patient on their condition and maximizing the patient’s ability to improve with conservative measures. He can derive the best treatment plan for each patient to suit their individual needs, lifestyle is and activities.
Dr. Morgan is married and resides in Cabarrus County with his family. In his free time, he enjoys working out, water sports and tracking with his dogs. He is a recipient of the OrthoCarolina Catalyst Award for service, teamwork, and community leadership.
